Google Reader which was created in early 2005 and officially launched on October 7, 2005 is a content application and platform provided by Google that is an aggregator of content served by web feeds.

According to Google official blog, these are the two reason, “Usage of Google Reader has declined, and as a company we are pouring all of our energy into fewer products.”

Google gives the user a three months period to find another alternative feed-reading solution to ensure a smooth transition.

If you want to retain your Reader data, including subscriptions, you can do so through Google Takeout.
